This article is about a proportion. Three lives triggered a twelve-year war, and the most profound consequence of that war was the largest forced population resettlement in modern Malayan history. The people being relocated were legally called "squatters", classified by land status, not bloodline— but in reality, about 85 percent of those moved were Chinese. These two things must be explained simultaneously.
