The history of slave-raiding is not merely a set of victim statistics. Semai place names preserve the memory of fugitives, resisters, caves, burial grounds, and whetstones; Btsisi'/Mah Meri oral tradition remembers Batin Gading, Batin Pahang, and the story of royal marriage alliances. These figures are not "famous" in any conventional sense — yet they represent the way Orang Asli communities have preserved their own history.
